Energy therapies and techniques focus on the body's energy systems as they relate to emotions, behavior, psychological health, etc. These energy systems include the electrical activity of the nervous system, acupuncture meridians, etc.EFT is a universal healing aid that must still be considered to be in the experimental stage according to it’s founder, Gary Craig who says, “We are still learning why EFT (and its many cousins) work so well.” The existing theory is that "the cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body's energy system."In its simplest terms, EFT is an emotional form of acupuncture except that no needles are used. Instead, we tap with the fingertips to stimulate certain meridian points while the client is "tuned in" to the problem.

While there is an art to the delivery of the technique and sometimes we use other points on the body, anyone can easily learn the points shown in this picture and learn how to use the technique on themselves.
Even applied mechanically, EFT can provide great results.
Here is a super quick course on how to do the absolute basics.
The subtle energies that circulate throughout the body have been largely ignored (until recently) by western scientists. With EFT, however, we consider these subtle energies to be the front running cause of emotional upsets. EFT generates results that are FAR beyond those of conventional methods, such as psychiatry. EFT often provides relief for a very wide range of physical and emotional symptoms. Evidence of a link between our physical ailments and our emotional issues are well documented.

EFT grew out of Thought Field Therapy Therapy (TFT), a system accidentally discovered by psychologist, Dr Roger Callahan, who cured a patient’s lifelong phobia of water in seconds when he tapped on an energy meridian to relieve a stomach discomfort.
Energy therapies also involve procedures that specifically address the underlying dynamic aspects of problems. These include muscle testing, energy checking, and processes such as stimulating acupuncture meridians (by holding, rubbing, tapping, etc.), undertaking specified body movements, and use of affirmations and assertions.
With Energy Therapies we are on the edge of a revolutionary break-through and a paradigm shift from traditional concepts of emotional/mental health and healing. It is founded on the concept that distressing emotions, upsetting traumatic memories, or self-limiting thoughts are connected with a disruption in the subtle energy systems of the mind and body.
EFT is compatible with many traditional approaches to therapy. In addition it is applicable to a wide range of areas including physical health, mental/emotional health, education and sports. EFT achieves observable and measurable results rapidly, and without causing undue emotional distress.
